I love that we get the chance to play together each week, with a great selection of music, at a more advance level with other people our age. Being in MiLO has taught me to not be too shy when playing the Viola… I think it’s been really important for me to engage in this space to further develop as a musician in a smaller ensemble but also understanding and embracing the contributions of my instrument in other circumstances.
- Description:
Music allows me to unlock inner parts of my self emotionally and musically. I know that there are places within myself that can only be accessed through music. It transports me to certain feelings, places, cultures and languages simply through sound. In everything I do, whether that’s learning a new piece, creating a character for theatre, or even simply personal enjoyment, I must listen to music everyday. Hence, why I cry when I forget my headphones at home when I’m out and about. When I do forget them… I’m subjected to the Victoria line tube grating my ears when instead I could be listening to Berlioz… a more groovy option. I love my instrument because of how deep and mellow the viola is. I think it represents me as a person. If I hadn’t a voice my viola would speak for me… I’d say it’s very fitting given the way I present myself. The viola is a very underrated instrument in my opinion, which makes it feel extra special… it’s a diamond that’s mistaken for glass (violin) :)
